the Latecoere 631, designed before the second world war, was the greatest seaplane of its time. With a lenght of 44 meters and a wingspan of 60 m, he outclassed the American Boeing 314 seaplane. However, his career was rather erratic with many accidents that led to stop his services in 1955. July 31, 1948, the Late 631 FB-DRC "henri guillaumet" took off from port Etienne in Mauretania, flying to Fort the France. The giant seaplane disappeared 1200 miles from the African coast. Parts were found in the Atlantic ocean but no survivors. It is this plane that I have depicted on this painting with the west Indies coasts in background. 100 x 50 cm - 350 prints signed and numbered.
